Flight upgrades are a bit more difficult to come by these days and missing the sale period for an upgrade can be pretty pricey. Several international carriers are now offering alternative seats in Premium Economy to fly comfortably in long flights (US to Europe or Asia and Europe to Asia).

Premium Economy seats cost less than double an economy fare and offer more legroom and services so you can fly comfortably. No U.S. airlines offer Premium Economy but United Airlines offers something called Economy Plus which only offers some extra legroom.
Airlines offering Premium Economy:
• ANA
• British Airways
• Air France
• Virgin Atlantic
• Air New Zealand
• Japan Airways
• Singapore
• Quantas
• EVA
• SAS
• BMI
• Thailand
