Be warned: it is extremely difficult to find free or cheap parking in Miami Beach!

Different options exist if you want to park your car:

- Metered parking in Miami on the street or municipal metered lot: Metered parking in Miami costs between $0,5 and $1 per hour. Not all parking meters are on during the night. Closer to shops, the maximum parking time for metered parking in Miami will be around 2 hours and others permit 12 hours parking (usually near the ocean).

- Municipal parking garage: the cost of this garage will vary from one garage to another. It is sometimes more expensive than the rates given by the hotels. Long-term parking (while you stay in your hotel or Miami vacation rentals) is discouraged as your car may be towed away, even if you are willing to pay. You would have to take the car out and reenter to be able to park over a long time.

- Valet parking in hotels or Miami vacation rentals: Hotels offer valet parking. It is probably one the best and safest options. It is also better if you want to park over a long period. The rate varies from a hotel or Miami vacation rentals to another.

If you are planning to rent a car during your stay in Miami vacation rentals, wait until you really need it. Long term parking can get really expensive. To get around South Beach and Miami Beach, use public transportation, a taxi or just walk.
